I had planned to be first bike at Comrade cycles…parking was challenging. After circling block twice, just left on flashing lights; I was second bike. Will take Comrade a week to undo the foolery of my local bike-shop. Lesson learned: you can’t have anyone/everyone work on your stuff.
115th St. was fast but not intimidating actually like it better than coming down 103rd to Central Park. Unfortunately was caught by freight train. It shortened the trip to Lake Katherine to only 10 miles.
This Cottonwood has my sinuses draining.
The one that got away. I stopped at gas station to refuel after $7.49. I got a 28 ounce bottle of Gatorade, which was the same price of the 12 ounce bottle and a pound cake. In the parking lot, I took a sip and the bottle slipped out my hand, rolled underneath a car and to its demise into traffic, most expensive bottle of Gatorade I lost.
Lamont Road was terrifying. Wahoo said stay your butt on Lamont Road, no it’s a highway! Wahoo sent me through the secret passage behind Hindu Temple, gate locked.
Apple maps said it’s one mile up hill. There were a lot of steep hills. And even more scary fast pace descents! I’ve probably would’ve been ok with 700x40 or 650b x47 tires but on 700x28 it’s rideable.
Return home; traffic everywhere was fast and congested no longer thought 115th or Ridgeland Ave were good routes, took 111th (which wasn’t great) into Mount Greenwood which turned into comfortable single lanes.
Once I was close to home, wandered down the neighborhood for 2 miles for official metric.
I wouldn’t suggest this route, probably delete in future
Today’s devotion;
learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause. Isaiah 1:17 ESV
Isaiah highlights three of the most vulnerable groups in his time: the oppressed, the fatherless, and the widow. Their suffering was not to be ignored—it was to be confronted. And the same is true today.
The oppressed are those weighed down by injustice, those suffering under the burden of wrongdoing.
Fatherless: In God’s design, parents are protectors and champions for their children. But in a broken world, many children are left without defenders, vulnerable to harm.
Widow: a woman without a husband often had no security or provision. Today, many face deep hardship after losing their spouse. Pleading their case isn’t just about sympathy—it’s about advocacy, ensuring they are not ignored, mistreated, or left without support.
When we seek justice, we reflect the heart of our Father, who is always near to the brokenhearted, always championing the cause of the vulnerable, and always working through His people to bring justice to the world.
