Another great day. Early morning climb up to the Lassen Peak highway and then cold descent towards Mineral. The formerly paved road paralleling Hwy 89 along Lake Almanor was so vicious - anytime you would pick up a little bit of speed, there would be craters all over the roadbed forcing panicked braking. When it turned into all dirt, it was slow but at least consistent. And then it turned rocky and chunky and I escaped for a mile or two to the highway. I mapped a dirt route between Lake Almanor and Greenville but the start had what seemed like a lot of deadfall across the road so I gave up pretty quickly and bombed the highway into Greenville. From Greenville it was familiar and pleasant terrain into Taylorsville, where there is a campground with a shower!
