Tsukuba Rinrin Road つくばりんりんロード

Cold and clear winter day, with westerly wind. The cycleway from Tsuchiura 土浦 to Iwase 岩瀬 follows the tracks of a disused railway and borders the western side of the hill of Tsukuba 筑波山. It is completely segregated from traffic, silent and very pleasant. Climbing up to the satation of the ropeway of Mt. Tsukuba 筑波山 I had open viwe towards the Kanto 関東 plain. Mt Fuji 富士山, covered with snow, was clearly visible, as well as, Tokyo Sky Tree and the skyscrapers of Shinjuku 新宿. The visit to Tsukuba Jinja 筑波神社 was worth the stop. After Iwase 岩瀬 the minor roads of this route have little traffic and are very enjoyable for quite countryside riding.
