Third or fourth day of extremely hot weather so the right thing to do is to ride in the early morning, before it gets ridiculously hot. Even so, it was about 80 at the start (0705 !). But as it turned out, the heat really wasn't a factor this morning, unlike a few days ago. Seemed a little cooler, but also deliberately choosing a pavement/gravel ride meant there was a lot more air flowing over the ol' engine, as opposed to woods riding. Not pushing the pace and generally just cruising, enjoying the morning, likely had something to do with the lack of heat trouble. Being casual did not stop strong efforts on the Cattail Steps at 15.4 and the series of climbs to 19 as well as the wall at 22, however. Was very happy with the decision to climb back to the soccerplex via the Hoyles Mill gravel and then through the neighborhood -- less steep and a lot shadier than Schaeffer Road.
