The last of the four races/group rides required for the Academy. This one was an 18 km criterium of six laps around the Central Park Laguardia Loop. As in the other races, I managed to fall into a small group of similarly skilled riders and paced nicely with them. I earned a featherweight power-up, saved it to the end where I knew the course rose up a bit just prior to the finish; it gave me a comfortable gap ahead of my nearest rivals. I just barely made the race start (a whole 16 seconds to spare) thanks to a slow Windows update on my tablet. That made me forget to start the Garmin until about 2 minutes in. I rode out to 20 km total in-world cooling down, closed Zwift, then kept cooling down until I also clocked 20 km on the Garmin. Those aren't equal-effort kilometers, of course, but they are at least of similar times and the same virtual distances. I finished 28th of 38 in the "D" class, putting out 2.4 W/kg with a time of 33:40, 06:25 behind the winner (27:15 at 3.3 W/kg). The "A" race leader finished in 24:16 at 5.3 W/kg. That's better positioning than in the other races, and better power than all but the first (possibly overenthusiastic) race.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
