A short close-in loop in the Gifford Pinchot forest. But don't let the low miles fool you. This is a deceptively tough route that presents a lot of climbing, much of it on big chunky gravel. There's also a long segment on the Bells Mountain Trail (not suitable for rainy riding). I did this on an unsuspended Cannondale Topstone (gravel bike) on 38mm tires at 60 PSI and it beat the crap out of me. A vastly better option would be something with suspension (and preferably at least 42mm tires at around 40 PSI).
Starting off from the intersection of 1000/1500, the climbing starts pretty much immediately. The roads are gated here so car and truck traffic hasn't beaten the gravel down one bit. It gets pretty nasty and eventually really steep - with short segments approaching 20% grade. But it's all rideable if you have a small enough gear.
Once you get to the top of the first climb, the "road" turns into a short single track trail. You eventually come upon one super long gravel road downhill. This is perhaps the best gravel of the ride and you can really build up a lot of speed here. But if you're like me (riding an unsuspended bike), your arms and hands will be really sore by the time you reach the bottom at Cold Creek.
Take a short ride down 1000 for about 100 meters or so before diving off on a road to the left that very shortly puts you on Bells Mountain Trail. Take the trail through the Cedars Creek campground and just keep going. You'll eventually hit a gravel road that the trail crosses. You can either turn left on the gravel road at that point (it eventually ties back into the mapped route) or go another quarter mile to so on Bells Mountain Trail before it hits a gravel road again (at which point you'll need to get on the gravel road heading to the left).
Now it's another long grind of a climb. The gravel is a little better than the first climb, but just barely. There are a few sections that level out or have slight declines at false summits. Be very wary about building too much speed. The gravel is large and sharp. Even with tires at 60PSI, I got a pinch flat up here and I wasn't going all that fast.
Drop back down to 1400, turn left, and ride the rest of the way on pavement to the start.

Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
