Today I hit a big milestone of 100 days! I figured I'd cycle 100km in celebration. I woke up to my cat friend from the night before saying hi. The fisherman had started work at 3am already. My mattress was deflating slower after patching the hole, but still deflating. Nonetheless, I got some good sleep! Back over the bridge to the mainland I went and up the coast. It was a really beautiful day. At one point I heard those deer sounds again, and stopped to film then. I then took off, to five minutes later realising I'd left my tripod on the ground, so I had to cycle back to get it. Then I sat at a pier with my canned saucy pork and backup rice. It was such a beautiful view, I watched as the fishing boats left the bay and travelled past the seagulls, which were flying overhead. There was a small cloud line that sat above the water, but under the hills. I checked out Cape Kamiwarizake, which has a gap in the cliff that a small stream of water runs into the bay from the ocean. This water regularly spurts out into big crashing waves, flinging water around. I also saw the Minamisanriku Moai statues, a line of wooden totems that stare at you as you go past. At one point I ran into a cyclist travelling the other way, a Japanese man on a trip of his own. Around the 70km mark my gears started slipping. I looked into the shifter and the cable had amost completely snapped, only holding on by w couple of threads. So I made do with the few gears still working and made it to town. I had Gusto for dinner and then went to my campsite in the dark. I slept by a river in a park not too far away.
