Rode out to West Corona Metrolink train station and met up with the Ladies and Gents group and rode out the SART to Pacific Coast Highway to a Starbucks in Newport Beach then on to and through Dana Point, San Clemente, past San Onofre Nuke Plant to Oceanside. The stretch between San Clemente and Oceanside involved riding on the paved shoulder of the Freeway. The beautiful part was passing all the gridlocked traffic at 25-28 mph 👀👍🏾 I managed to hook up with two strong riders - I’ll bring back their names here later - I’m on the train cruising past beautiful sandy beaches and waves 100 ft away and we rode strong and fast for hours into headwinds. At San Clemente the 2 guys I’d been riding with weren’t ready to roll when another strong rider rolled out that had been chasing us all morning so I dropped into Dragon Mode 🐲🔥🦶🏽🦵🏾🫁❤️‍🔥👁️🧬🥭🚴🏾💪🏽 and caught him in about 10 miles. He does a lot more clombing than I do as he lives closer to the San Bernardino mountains than I do. He gapped me on about a 1/4 mile rise and there was several more after that and even though my power was better than its been in a while, it wasn’t enough to reel hom back in. So he got to the train station about a minute or two before I did. We were the first 2 of about 15-20 that I met up with at the Corona Metrolink parking lot. So that felt good. Although today was supposed to be a Zone 1-2 day! I’m sure I blew those parameter right out of the water! More later…
