Rode with TJ on the PCH Rando's Views of Anacapa 200k brevet. I overslept and we didn't get there until 6:40AM when the ride was to start at 6:30AM. We actually started rolling at 7:02AM.
Greg Jones said 40 riders finished, in spite of all the rain and flat tires!
We caught Chris Hansen, who was riding with his girlfriend, on LA Ave before entering Saticoy (near Ventura). Saw Foster somewhere around there, too. We caught Kris Kostman on the bike trail from Ventura. I saw Al Tolkoff at the market control before starting around Lake Casitas. We caught Shai at the start of the descent of Casitas Pass, and Michael at the end of that descent. Michael stayed with us until he started to get cold and stopped to readjust his things soon after we reached PCH. TJ had a flat just as we were leaving the control in Port Huaneme. I stopped at the information control at the end of Naval Air Rd and TJ went on; I took an extra few minutes and did not catch TJ until we were on Tierra Rejeda at the every end of the ride, although I thought I saw him ahead when we made the turn from Lewis Rd to Pleasant Valley Rd. I caught Gary Feldstein on Pleasant Valley not too far from Moorpark Rd as he was finishing up his repair of a flat tire; I stopped and went back to check on him and he startled rolling. He was freezing and told me another ride had gone by (TJ). I dropped Gary and went on to see if I could catch TJ. TJ was falling off my pace a little after we left Michael, but recovered after Naval Air Rd and had then picked up his pace.
It started to sprinkle lightly along the Moorpark Ridge, fairly early in the ride, but we were not really getting wet until it started to come down steadily in Carpenteria, after which it rained pretty good the rest of the day. We were soaked through and through, and covered with road grime.
I did not draft anyone at all today. It would have been messy once the roads were wet, and also TJ was not a registered rider.
