The weather has warmed up a bit. It was around 80 when I got out. Cool winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of OTR in good time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation. I was near max going over the top. It was more of the same to the summit. I had to let traffic by using the shoulders. After making it to the summit, I pulled over to recover. Shortly after, I made my way down the mountain. There were some cars from behind. They were courteous enough to wait till it was safe to pass. The trek to SS was mostly moderate tempo while going into a headwind. I made my way around the backside and then to the downhill. I stopped at the local park for a quick bio break. Then I headed to the mini-mart. I passed the Tunnel in about 1:05 hours. I mixed a powder drink at the local mini-mart and then got back on the road. The return trek through the farmlands was mostly moderate tempo. I had a tailwind as I was hoping. I passed Boss Hogs in about 1:08 hours. The last climb went quick. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts while maintaining moderate tempo. I pushed over the top and then pulled over to feed a Clif Bar with water. After feeding, I got back on the road and headed to Route 202. Route 202 had some traffic mitigation from behind. I let them by before merging onto the left turn lane. The descent off OTR was mostly fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa and then to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about and the morale was good. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal and half a banana for breakfast. Although the banana soured my stomach and I had to take Pepto Bismol to relieve it. The soreness went away before the start of the ride. Ailments were minimal. The usual hand soreness, and perhaps hints of knee soreness that never escalated. Gear worked flawlessly. The GPS showed the Di2 battery was low at the start of the ride. No clue why as the Di2 battery was fully charged and the shift lever batteries are green. Other notes, I saw 3 other cyclists and the fleet of motorists and motor-cyclists showed up at the SS bar and grill restaurant.
