Leyton buzzard to Northampton
A day of three bike sections and two train sections. We started out on the canal as far as Milton Keynes. Then an along country lanes mainly into Northampton. It was the last day of the spoons tour and it was here that I separated from Geoff who took a train back to Stafford. I took a train to Birmingham hoping to change their to go to Shifnal and ride to Broseley. However, some 6 miles short of Birmingham Station the train could go no further because of trespassers I’m alone. While passengers were offered substitute buses I had to ride my bike into Birmingham, which was actually quite interesting. From Birmingham I caught the train to Shifnal and then road from there to Broseley and did a bit of sightseeing around I am Bridge.

Great photos Pete. I love riding in the UK but don't get the opportunity often enough.
Good to see you have added Wetherspoons to the Greggs menu.
Nothing like a varied diet!
Hi Kevin
Wetherspoons do a great pasta meal which was the most common meal in the
evening. In the mornings it was porridge and fruit and yogurt mostly and
you get large amounts. After a couple of traditional English it was enough
and we switched.
Greggs staple were fruity flapjacks for fuel on the way and a sausage roll.
They also do some great salad rolls.
And the other highly sought after food item was pork pies. The best of the
lot were in Much Wenlock. Oh and mustn’t forget the pork scratchings when
in the midlands.
Stoke Oatcakes with bacon and cheese filling are pretty good too and a must
have when there.
Who says British cuisine isn’t varied! 😂
The best bit so far was the 2 days ride from Welshpool to Rhayader. Very
quiet roads and gravel and magnificent scenery.
I been very lucky with the weather too. Haven’t had to put my rain jacket
on once for rain just a few times in the early morning when a bit cool.
Cheers
Pete
