This 136-mile loop starts and finishes at Meadowlark Ski & Sports in Sandy and circles Mount Hood with approximately 10,500 feet of climbing.
The route begins on quieter back roads through Sandy, Gresham, and Troutdale before climbing toward Corbett and joining the Historic Columbia River Highway. From there, it follows the Columbia River Gorge State Trail east through the Gorge toward Hood River.
After Hood River, the route turns south onto Dee Highway and continues through the orchards toward Parkdale. It then heads toward Cooper Spur before reconnecting with Highway 35 for the long climb around the east side of Mount Hood.
From Government Camp, the route descends Highway 26 and returns to Sandy to complete the loop.
The route is mostly paved, but a few rough sections may require some hike-a-bike. Expect a very long day with sustained climbing, highway riding, changing weather, and limited services between towns. Hood River, Parkdale, Government Camp, and several other communities along the way offer opportunities to stop for water, coffee, snacks, and food.
This is a challenging but unforgettable full loop around Mount Hood, traveling through the Columbia River Gorge, orchard country, mountain forests, and several small Oregon towns.
