We kept running into Alto Velo and Primo Velo's group rides today. I was thinking what would our group be called today. With everyone seemingly tired, complaining about being old and out of shape, and not wanting to climb today, I thought, Senior Velo... which sounded a lot like Señor Velo. Señor and Senior could be interchangeable homophones. Bob's original idea was to go out to Pie Ranch but that would've been ~88mi./8,800'. I guess he didn't see how much climbing there was. Given how much Sonny's been complaining about being out of shape, I said I would defer the decision to him. He seemed to go with it but he was already having a tough day today on the ride we did. I think he would've hated the Pie Ranch ride. Bob had offered the ride we did as an alternative after I said it was Sonny's choice and Bob realized how much climbing there was. They wanted to play it by ear but I was always in favor of doing this ride. So it was Senior Velo because Sonny was sighing and groaning on every climb. But then he would also surge ahead when there was no need to. I was taking it so easy when I was leading but still getting complaints from the guys. We went out to the coast because it was supposed to be very hot inland. Mostly the temps were good but leaving Pescadero, it got quite hot when there was no wind to cool us. Even though the climbing is harder doing Pescadero this way, I like the change of scenery. I was upset to have done all that climbing only to have a slow car ruin my Page Mill/Moody descent.
