Port Colborne, Trail, Gravel and Road Cycling

It may be best to leave this route until later in the summer, or next year. After two heavy rainfall storms, up to 150mm rain I encountered numerous repair sites and 3 road closures due to road and bridge repairs. This route is best ridden on a gravel bike, even the Welland Canal Trail sections that are paved are often rough and there are some gravel sections. A part of the trail past Gibson Lake is single track with tall grass. Apparently at Hwy 406 there is a "culvert" that can be taken under the highway. I missed it. The better alternative is to turn left at Beaverdams Rd and then right at Merrittville Hwy (not a highway) and pick up the route at DeCew Rd. A challenging day but good.

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
