A typical August day -- super humid, threats of thunder later (that turned out to be more than threats) and old dude needs some miles on the legs before the annual covered bridge ride in {gulp} 10 days... Deliberately climbed both White Store and Schaeffer roads, one near the beginning and the other in the last 3 miles. Only way to get stronger is to suffer! Pretty happy to have done the White Store climb (7.6 to 9.2) in the big ring and did not drop into the smaller chainring until 30.6 for the worst of the Schaeffer climb. Contact points held up; could have gone farther with some, um, roadside adjustments, but didn't need to. Legs felt decent the entire loop; a little tired at the end but not blown up or dead. Stitches come out tomorrow and am verrrry happy about that. Really like this route, with those bigger climbs and a coupla bombin' descents (Col du Cattail and the as-yet unnamed descent down Mount Nebo Road). The latter descent is NOT to be climbed by this OG, so the loop in the other direction is different near the river (some towpath and a dirt road).
