I can’t stop the feeling; got this feeling in my body. This ride title began as sunshine in my pocket and changed to something darker. Clipped-in and ready or so I thought. Took a tumble at Vincennes St. I’ve didn’t properly stop, usually unclip right foot and lean forward on handlebars. Instead I’ve fell in slow motion to the left. Thank God no traffic was near me. I’ve dropped this bike more times than I care to admit. The ride to Lake Katherine was a breeze. Ran into a massive group at Freedom Park out our front door OOFD jamboree heading to Camp Sullivan for an overnight bike-camping trip. Strong vicious headwind from Lake Katherine to Oak Forest turning into a mild headwind as I cross 159th and Cicero. The trip back just more strong headwind & now crosswinds! Couldn’t catch a break in the wind department. Road construction turned path into industrial gravel just past Rubio Woods. And again path destroyed due to construction at George W. Dunne Golf Course. Suddenly went dark at 4pm I thought I was in an old Twilight Zone episode! And I’m still a long way from home. The inhabitants were calling out to one another, wrestling in the bushes. Probably my mind playing tricks. Saw a pair of Sandmill Cranes. Missed a turn at 127th and decided to take alternate route home; wahoo beep, beep, beep redirecting to missed turn. As soon as I took off shoes it began to rain. Blessed. So far longest journey wearing cycling shoes. Saturday devotion; God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
