I expect I'll try this route again, probably showing others around in the future. (edit: none of us knew the COViD-19 pandemic was coming a few months in the future. That prevented showing anyone else along this route. However, feel free to use the route - I'd like credit for developing and test riding it.)
I've been planning to do this route for a while. It's called Starfish Prime because it's shaped like a giant starfish. (Though it's also named for an event in space and military history - look it up.) The 5 tips of the arms of the starfish are all at county parks, making a 75 mile route. The parks are Penitencia Creek (in San Jose's Berryessa district), Hellyer (in South San Jose), Vasona Lake (in Los Gatos), Shoreline (in Mountain View) and Alviso Marina (in San Jose's Alviso district). The plan can be varied to make a century route too, by extending each of the arms a few miles or so.
