Ride with Todd the Bike Beast!!! The Bike Beast did all the pulling as I rode his wheel. I felt sorry for him because of all the strong winds. I was in way strong enough to help with pull. He was very gracious and caring making sure he didn't drop me. I told him I was looking to do 50 but not at this pace, he suggested a 36 mile route... I was good with that. At our pit stop 20 miles in he asked how was I feeling and I said good, he then asked which route I wanted to do, he named a few options I said any I'm good to go. So off we go in the head wind and the hillyest route in the area. the head wind had picked up big time as long as I stayed on his wheel, I was good. What I notice if we slowed for any reason, he would pick the pace up and the someto make up the slow down... on the second part of the ride he went to town on the make up. Had it been anyone else I would sworn they were trying to drop me. At one point I tnhought we we doing 24 mph but it was the hardest on ever, I noticed it was 24 it was 34 mph this happened a few more times but I was ready. I realized we were not doing 36 miles because we went passed that and we had long ways to go and I knew this was going to take some big effort on my part to keep up and I didn't want to mess his pace up. It was a most fun, exhilirating ride of the year. I didn't think I had it in me at this point! Thanks Bike Beast for pushing me to this level. It has been so long and only a dream to get back to this level, yes I didn't do any pulling but to go this distance, at this speed and watts is big for me from being told I may not make past a week, I'll be lucky to walk again, much less get back on a bike! Bike Beast was there the entire time keeping me encouraged and the reality of how long it would take to actually begin physical recovery, ( I was in denial about the severity of my situation and I still am). Thank you Bike Beast and all those that cheered me on during those dark days and thru all the set backs. I still and will always have several issues from the accident and cancer but my ambition and life mission is not over.
