Ride was fairly nice if a little on the cool side. Bob, Sonny, Doug and I tackled Umunhum again - my arch nemesis. At the start of the ride I just wasn't feeling great. Maybe my legs were tired from climbing Crestview the day before but whatever the reason they were kind of dead. On the steep ascent of Hicks (up to 17%), I didn't think I was going to make it up Umunhum. We rested at the base of Umunhum before climbing. It's just as steep as Hicks but with huge potholes and loose gravel. Initially I was dropped but part way up I started feeling better. Eventually I was the first to the Line of Death... because Doug stopped short. :) The descent is the most treacherous of any we ride. Both Umunhum and Hicks have 15+% sections. At one point on Umunhum, I thought I was going to go down as I ended up in couple of the potholes right before a turn. Somehow I managed to stay upright. Hicks was hair-raising. Even with the brakes on, I was accelerating! The rest of the ride I felt pretty good until towards the end when my knees started to hurt. Also, as we left the lunch stop, I managed to stop the timer somehow and the Garmin shut off automatically. I didn't realize until ~5mi later, partway up Shannon. DAMMIT!!!

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.

Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
