Riding trails here can get to be kind of a bummer sometimes, cause no one is ever around and most of it is "unofficial" or neighborhood social trails or whatever but in these strange times we're living in with official parks closed everywhere throughout the world it is pretty cool that I still get to do most of my normal trail riding.
Also since Line Creek nature area is technically closed and is hiking only and I have always wanted to try to ride it, I decided to check it out before sunrise this morning and also so I could do a proper dark trail ride for the first time. I had my commuter light on my bars and my old commuter light on my helmet and it was plenty. However in the first 100 feet of unofficial trail by Line creek near the USGS streamgauge just south of 54, I hit a technical rooty section and had to put a foot down. No problem except I didn't realize the creek was just to my right and so I ended up with my leg up to my thigh in the creek and my bike on top of me. I didn't fall over and no electronic devices were damaged. Temperature was in the mid thirties and I also got my left hand wet and I couldn't stand it very long so I swung by home and changed into dry gloves and socks and shoes. Did some more unofficial trails near battery way park and the trails near the Wyndam near the lake which is much better singletrack than I remember, looks like it's getting quite a decent amount of foot traffic lately which is cool. Totally worth riding on a regular basis. Then I did my usual stinky loop and also for some reason I finally got up the gumption to take a small oak sapling(about a foot high) from nearby my favorite tree, a huge 200+ year old white oak on swamp terrace on the stinky, so I could plant it on the little island in the middle of our little corner of the subdivision.
