Ian led ten riders out of Uxbridge past Swakeley’s Lake, around the back of Ruislip, past Kings College Fields to the Junction of Fore Street and Eastcote Road where Ian explained the history of the site of HMS Pembroke, now a large housing development. More information at http://www.ruislip.co.uk/eastcotemod/enigma.htm. Riding up through the new housing we made our way to a coffee break at the Pinner Arms where Ray was waiting to join us.
After the break we made our to and across Roxbourne Park and a maze of roads to Northolt Park, once the site of a racecourse and on to the Crown at Northolt for lunch.
After lunch the route took us through Northala Park with its four artificial hills made from spoil from the Wembley Stadium and the White City Shopping Centre developments. More information at http://www.londongardenstrust.org/index.htm?features/northala.htm. The name "Northala" is how the old manor of Northall (Northolt) was recorded in the Domesday book of 1086.
From here we went on through Yeading and Hayes to the White House at Stockley Park for more refreshments. From here the group made its way back to Uxbridge with some breaking away, homeward bound.
