There were a total of 19 for John Watson’s short ride to Hedgerley. The party was split into two groups, the lead led by John while the tail end group led by Ian with yours truly as tail end charley.
Just as we headed off down Vine Street Ivy suffered a puncture and she and Bernie stopped to repair it aiming to catch up with us at Black Park. The rest journeyed on through Iver and past the Red Lion and Langley Park to be guided into Black Park by the tradesman's entrance to the cafe. Ivy and Bernie joined us in time to enjoy refreshments.
After a pleasant stroll round the bottom end of the lake we cycled on without mishap, apart from the rain, through Stoke Poges to Hedgerley and lunch at the White Horse with its vast selection of ales. 19 Loiterers occupying the small public bar made for a very friendly atmosphere indeed and it was hard to leave not least because of the rain and the Hills ahead.
Replete we did make it up the hills and on the Gerrards Cross and afternoon tea (or coffee) at the Ethorpe Hotel.
We then made for Uxbridge along the A40 with only one mishap, Bernie, not wanting to be outdone by Ivy, got a puncture.
Yet another great day with the Loiterers and thanks to John for devising the route and he and Ian for leading us round it.
