This was the memorial ride for Virginia Panlasigui, a long-time volunteer for San Jose Bike Party. There was no way to know how many people would attend under current circumstances with slight loosening of the pandemic restrictions. Though the turnout was more than expected and probably more than county orders allow, it certainly was a heartwarming show of support for Virginia and her family.
This memorial was long delayed since Virginia's passing in February just before the pandemic hit here. Everyone was requested to wear a mask. And I only noticed one rider who didn't.
Virginia was always kind. She was helpful, respectful and respected. Her boyfriend Tian Harter spoke at the rest stop in Sunnyvale. The two of them were co-leaders on a number of SJ Bike Party rides.
Virginia was a member of SJ Bike Party's non-profit corporate Board of Directors at the time of her passing.
