Babcock Webb Exploratory 3

(NOTE: Be sure to check out the various types of maps available in the drop-down menu, upper right corner. I find the Satellite and USGS Scans to be the most useful.) This was a very short, mostly off road ride back to a lake sitting slightly off the gravel road (Tram Grade) and accessible by a dirt trail. The shape of the small lake appears to have been manipulated to create bars that jut out into the middle so that it creates a perfect spot for birding or fishing. It made me wish I brought a folding chair and sun umbrella to just sit and relax for a while. On the way back to the lake I saw some quail. At the lake I saw a tri-colored heron. As I left the lake, I drove further out Tram Grade to the west, I saw a family of 4 Sandhill Cranes and a Great Blue Heron. I drove Road 5 south and saw some cattle, then drove east to Road 3 and connected back to Tucker's Grade and came home. Also see my video at:

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
