Night Rider does a daytime ride... Debris still all over but getting better or at least on the roads I took today. Power still out at my house had to throw out almost all food in refrigerator, what a waste, Many areas now have electric so things are getting better. My ride started out as all my solo rides do nice and slow I was at 18.3 mph at 15 miles which is faster then I have been in a long time normally I would be at 17.5 or there abouts. I was till feeling flat and slow. I got to an area where I started to pass other riders going the opposite direction maybe I didn't want to look bad but my pace started to pick up. I got to a long stop light, when I started there was a long line behind me and of course I could clip in my legs were feeling super stiff from the long wait. I finally clipped in feeling bad for momentarily holding up traffic I started a semi sprint to get my spped up. At this point I had 21 miles to go to get home and with a headwind and feeling it I got on the down on the drops and it was like I had a booster. I was off and moving. I was wondering how long I could hold this pace as I hadn't been feel strong for well over a month, I was rolling between 21 and 22 on the flats and 20.5 on the inlines and whatever I could hold on the declines. I was a little worried about my left knee it started to ache but like lactic acid build up in the muscles, it got to a point it felt like it was going explode as was burning all over so I backed down the effort just a tad and I was able to continue. I started to see my average speed and watts go up as I hammered away. I was waiting for my legs to say no more or my mind say too much, I still had over 16 miles to go. I started picking land marks a head and doing what I am great day at (dreaming different race scenarios), the miles started melt away. the last 7 miles were going to be tough not because of the distance the road gets really rough with ruts, bumps, and pot holes all over. I saw I had an outside chance to crack 20 mph for the ride so I went for it... Well I didn't get it but I was very close and espeically happy that keep the pace up all the way home!
