Gorgeous clear, cool start with moderate NW winds that died out as the ride progressed. While humidity was low the temps rose to low 80s by the end. Great group including Rob, Tim, Chris, Beth, Jose, Brian S (rode from DeKalb), Erin, Jeff, David S (from Kingston), Bruce and Wally (who came late after forgetting his helmet). Indirect route up to Sycamore for stop at Jewel, followed by direct segment up to Kingston for a Casey’s refreshment. Eight miles later was the turnaround point in Kirkland at the Marathon station. Joined by Terry from the Rockford club on E Five Point Road (he departed after Kirkland while group rode south on Malta). Third official stop was the Marathon station in DeKalb, after which Brian returned home. Final push on Rich Road and Keslinger was a full court press as Bruce and I finished up at the end. Best road sections were Mt. Unger (personal fave), Brickville, Wolf, Malta Road (from Kirkland to Old State Road), Rich and Keslinger. Solid average speed for me for 75 miles. Good prep ride for an 85 mile and century rides planned for sometime in September. Rehydration at Obscurity Brewing in Elburn (very good stop!)..
