I design a Bike-Party-of-One route each month in place of SJ Bike Party (while it isn't riding during the lockdown) the same way SJBP rides would be designed. This time I tried something I don't know if SJBP would accept - the start point and both regroup points were all at the same place. I think there's only one location in San Jose that would stand for the big Bike Party crowd to show up again several times in a night, and that's Discovery Meadow. It followed the route at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/33598685 Though I call it Bike-Party-of-One, usually someone else shows up at some point. This time Nick was there at the start. Though Rick had planned to come this time, he was off helping with family members who were returning home after evacuating from a wildfire. Obviously his priorities were in the right place. I was exhausted at the end of this ride, but glad I rode it. I needed to get out and get some exercise. I had been traveling all day, including about nine hours of driving, and spoke at my father's funeral in Reno. This will be the last BP1 ride, at least for a while. I have withdrawn from volunteering for SJ Bike Party due to a change in the organization's Board of Directors which put someone who acts hostile to me as chairman of the board. So I don't need to test new routes while I've shelved plans to act as a ride leader. Maybe Nick or Rick will lead next month's ride. If nobody plans anything, I'll do some sort of alternative ride of similar distance on the 3rd Fridays.
