Some of you may recall I've used this title for a ride before. In this case, "Flipping the Bird" means a route that flips a U-turn at the end of Bird Street. Probably not what you were thinking, right? 😀
One hazard I saw on this ride... the city has ground out and erased the bike lane markings on 10th and 11th Streets, a couplet of one-way streets which also serve as a major bicycle route. It's probably preparation for repaving. But confused drivers are using the bike lane as a 3rd traffic lane and speeding then slamming on their brakes behind bicycles in it. Stay away from there until whatever work is going on is done.
One odd thing on the ride... I heard a buzzing noise on 13th Street and noticed a drone was following above and behind me. (!!!) I zipped around a corner and easily lost it. Then I went back around the block to observe it. I saw it hovering over the gas station and move back where it might be preparing to land. So I took Hedding across 13th and left on 12th where I could see through the fence as it touched down in the back parking lot of the Quality Inn. Someone staying there was just playing. I went back to 13th to continue my ride, ringing my bell as I passed the front of the Quality Inn where the guy was carrying his drone.

Any day can be #StarWarsDay when they turn on the blue lights at the San Jose City Hall rotunda dome. This is why locals have nicknamed it R2D2. Got the picture on a bike ride this evening. #StarWars #SciFi #cycling

San Jose cyclists: avoid 10th & 11th Streets in downtown. Road grinding, probably preparation for repaving, has erased the bike lane markings. Confused drivers are using it as a 3rd traffic lane at full speed. (Pics also from tonight's bike ride.) #cycling
