It's been almost 40 years since I lived in New Baltimore. I have driven through it many times but thought it would be fun to ride on some of the streets I rode with my 3-speed "English Racer" in the 1960's and first 10-speed bike back in the early to mid 1970's. I went by both homes we lived in. Also my Elementary, Junior High, and High Schools. Stopped on the property where my grandmother lived next to the Dairy Queen. The house is long gone but there is still an outline of her garage on the ground. Every time we visited her she would give my brother and I a dime and we would run to the Dairy Queen and buy a Dilly Bar. Went by what used to be Beauvais Hardware and my first job. It is now the Post Office. Downtown on the corner there was Schoebel's Drugstore where I bought all my comic books with my newspaper route money. And just a block further up the street was the Hobby Shop, which I thought was the coolest place in town. I bought dozens of models there. The stores and their owners are all gone but I sure can bring up memories of what it used to be like.
