Something very odd happened on this trip. It started off very normally however after about 2 hours and around miles we realized that we had completely turned around and returned to our starting point. We started off together heading back out, Chip pulled out ahead of me and was out of sight and voice range. Within a half hour I meet Chip coming towards me on the same path. He says, How did you get ahead of me, I said I didn’t I’m trying to catch up to you. He thought I was heading back home, I said no I’m heading out. Somehow Chip had gotten turned around and we both had gotten turned around earlier that morning. We continued together in the direction I was heading and kept an eye on the phone map as we went. This time we passed the point where we had gotten turned around and kept laying new track until we got to the Green Mountain Trail Junction. This is the strangest thing that has ever happened to us on the trail. There is no evidence on the trail or on the map track as or why or how we got turned around.
