Went to Tony's for the day, so I rode back from East Nicolaus to Oroville.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.

Hey Dick, I uploaded this route and start time to the MyWindSock site this morning before I rode. The time it estimated was within 15 seconds of the time it actually took me to ride it. Pretty impressive.

Yes that is very impressive. I know that the site takes into account weather conditions, like wind etc. but, how does it account for your motivation? Is the estimate done while you're riding? Like an ETA based on all conditions during the ride.
Looking at the riding time, I noticed you stopped either for a pee break or a popsicle 🥳. Did it factor that in as well?
I entered my power average on climbs, flats, and descents at 190, 180, 170, respectively. I could set it higher or lower, depending on my motivation. I did the estimate in the morning, before we went down to Tony's, so it didn't change during the ride.
Yeah, I did stop a couple times to take pictures. I also did a short back track at around 42.5 miles when one of my mirrors fell off. Never did find the darn thing.
My ride time on RwGPS is the moving time, so they didn't factor in.
Does MyWindSock have a definition of climbs, flats, descents? I notice your entire ride was pretty much "uphill", with lots of hills along the way. I guess you just put in the numbers for climbs, flats, and descents and let the app deal with the details.
I'm not sure exactly what they consider climbs and descents. Although this ride appears to be technically uphill, it was mostly pretty flat.
I just threw some power numbers in. I figure I typically average around 180 watts and know I work a bit harder on climbs and less hard on descents, I was surprised how close it came out.
I just have the free account at MyWindSock. I'd suggest you create a free account and give it a try.
I created an account on mywindsock.com but, can't get it to do anything but go to Strava, which I no longer have an account with. It does have RwGPS connect but, when I plug in the user name and password for RwGPS it doesn't go anywhere. Probably just not holding my mouth right.
Well, I figured out how to get RwGPS working for me. Now, I've just got to play around with it some to figure out how to use it on a ride.
Yeah, I had to manually export the route from RwGPS to my PC, then manually upload it to MyWindSock.
I think you can upload activities directly from RwGPS, but not routes (as near as I can tell).
I was able to get my routes from RwGPS to auto upload. I had to punch in my RwGPS password manually mywindsock.com in order to be able to do that. I tried to "connect with RwGPS" using my computer to put in the password for RwGPS on mywindsock.com and it wouldn't work. But, when I entered my RwGPS password manually it worked. After that, I am able to get all of my routes from RwGPS on mywindsock.com.
