First time cycling at Big Cypress National Preserve. Thought it would be dry in February and instead had a very wet and muddy day.
Hiking trail was not really rideable by bike. Fallen trees, steep drop-offs into water, and an extremely windy trail. A lot of hike-a-bike until I cut over to the ORV trail.
ORV trail had flooded sections up to a quarter mile long with water up to 6 inches deep. Pick your poison: 1) loose gravel for ORV tracks with lots of slipping and sliding, or 2) run the middle with exposed, chunky limestone. Riding in deep water slowed me down.
Pros of this trip: 1) rapid learning on how to ride technical track, and 2) great chance to experiment with tubeless tire pressure. 22 psi was bone-jarring. Deflated to 12psi. I was able to ride faster, and it was more comfortable.
