Another one of those winter days were you can't rely on the temperature forecast alone. It was warm in the sun when there was no wind but the wind chill effect was greater than usual.
I didn't end up taking off any of my warmers and I'm actually glad I brought my vest. I think I would've been in trouble for parts of the ride if I hadn't, like the descent down the backside of Hamilton.
I basically put on sunscreen for nothing.
I went with the Thesis today because it rained over night and the roads were still wet when I left. It wasn't completely dry until the after Mt. Hamilton.
We took it pretty chill today. In fact, every time I looked at my heart rate it seemed to be the same. Looking at the data afterward, I think the only times I worked were on the descents which is so backwards. Any descent that I have to pedal on is a lame one!
Visited The Junction Cafe for the first time since they got new owners. In a word, it was SLOOOWWW!!!! As slow as the previous-previous owners. At least the food was better but not nearly as good as the last owners.
The Bacon Cheeseburger I had, while tasty, was a lukewarm, points deducted. Onion rings were more like onion donuts. Very weird but they tasted okay I guess. Oh, warm Coke too. More points deducted.
It took over 30 minutes to get our food and it wasn't even that busy there. And we spent about an hour and a half which would cause us to get back a little after sunset instead of before.
On the way down Calaveras Rd, a road we usually bomb, we got stuck behind a driver who clearly didn't know what they were doing. There wasn't a good spot to pass them, otherwise I would've.
We both turned onto Piedmont and I was able to keep up with them as they held up traffic and were driving in the bike lane. I was so mad, I forgot to get a shot of their license plate so I could get their license revoked!
One other driver marred the ride on the way towards Calaveras but it was an otherwise wonderful day.
