Well... The weather was cleared up. Cloudy skies, cool air in the mid 40's. I wasn't sure where I wanted to go today, so I started by going out to WS. The legs were a bit sluggish to start, but got better as the ride went on. I didn't bother to check my time at the end of OTR. I headed out to WS with a nice tailwind. After making it to the turn-around, I headed back, no stopping. As I was approaching the mile climb, I decided to add the Banducci summit to my ride. I had just enough GoPro battery to make it to the summit. The legs felt good enough to add it to the ride. There was traffic mitigation most of the way to the summit. The legs felt good. I made it to the summit and took a few moments rest and swapped out the GoPro battery. After letting traffic by, I headed back down the mountain. I was trying to calculate the mileage and time remaining. When I got back to OTR, the temperature was dropping, so I tried not to waste time. I had to pull over once, because the GoPro mounting screw came loose and fell to the ground. I was able to recover it and used some electric tape to keep it secure. From there, it was mostly fun and games. Concentration was good. The morale felt good. I had some stuff to think about. Ailments, some right outer quad soreness that lasted about 3 minutes as I was approaching the Banducci wall. Gear worked perfect, despite the GoPro thumb screw coming loose. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had most of my Gatorade, no water. Hunger signs were minimal. Other notes, I saw 3 or 4 cyclists out there. One pedestrian shouting encouragement, "Allez allez!". That's s first for me.
