Adventure Ride

The Route: Bragg to Southern Pines, then to Sanford via US bike route 1. A winding road southeast to return to Bragg. 113.8 miles, which includes some very visible wrong turns.

The experience: lots of fun, lots of type 2 fun. Plenty of little issues. Poor nutrition and hydration until lunch. A leaky rear tire that I had to inflate 3 times. A broken spoke, which threw my front wheel out of true at the 100 mile mark. Then ... I left my ID at home so I had to be shuttled to the visitor center by a very friendly civilian gate guard. Mostly great traffic and respectful drivers.

Would I do it again? Yes, but with a different route. And ideally with a buddy or two.

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
