6-1+2-4 = 3 crazy BBC members completed the "Rite of Passage" Tour de Boat Ramps. Six optimistic riders started on a cloudy day with ambitions of riding in sunny 54 degree weather as confirmed by all the weather services out there. I did see some shadows before the first boat ramp, but actually we confirmed that the Cartop boat ramp is no longer a paved boat ramp. Prior to the next boat ramp at Trailhead all others departed to a more appropriate ride around the lake. So that just left Dave Tanner, Steve Galvin, and I as the ambitious troops of the BBC. By the Pine Grove ramp it started spitting rain, then sprinkles at Paynetown. We skipped the Rush Creek one when a yellow sign saying,
"No access to lake," had us deduct that the 30 year old map had let us down again. Allen Creek was optimistic with dryness, but by the time we got to Hardin Creek it was pouring and colder. Salt Creek was back to just sprinkling, and Fairfax was dry but we were still very wet and cold. However, we found another boatramp at Fairfax. Triumphant with our find we tried to warm up with Hot Chocolate at the Fairfax Inn, but they only had alcoholic drinks at the bar. Imagine that! Now in search of that last one, the Yacht Club at Waterworks. Dave powered up the hills like the old Dave, Steve did the turn around game as always, and Jim had very wet and cold feet despite his booties. No fantastic speeds or wipe-outs to mention, but the "Tres Locos" ride on.
