It was probably only 10 or so, but it felt like every other person I came across was riding a Townie. Man they sold a lot of those. Thanks to the Gravel Goofballs group, I now know that the Great Western Trail is more than just the stretch that runs from St. Charles out to Sycamore. I picked it up in West Chicago and ran it out to Villa Park. Now I know where More Brewing is. Then back on the Prairie Path to St. James Farm and from there, discovering all kinds of interesting trails. it was just a great day of exploring new paths and trails, going wherever and however I wanted. I found some really great horse trails off Gary's Mill Road and found what I thought was a really cool abandoned road - which it was, but what I didn't realize is that I was on Fermilab property. I didn't know that until I exited and saw the ominous signs. Oops! No cop, no stop, no crime! I even had a bonus opportunity to give someone a hand. I was driving by a house in West Chicago and this guy was trying to get a big old recliner up their front steps. It took us all of about two minutes working together. By himself . . . 🤔 Today was a total win! God is good.
