Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.

Noticed I just did my own version of this ride. Except I took the San Fernando bike path home, which I saw they are working to extend it to Cohasset St in Burbank
Foothill is pretty bike friendly. The worst section is probably between Van Nuys and Osborn, but that's only about 4 blocks.
Once the San Fernando bike path goes all the way through, I'll give that a try for sure.
Nice route, will try it as soon as we get sub 80 degree weather. I've done Camp 9 out and back to Veteran's Memorial Park with my vintage hardtail MTB with granny gear ratios (I needed it for the first 1.5 miles of 13% grade). This version I should be able climb on my gravel bike with an 11/34 cassette. Is the road in the same condition when you approach Camp 9 from Little T vs from May Canyon/Veteran's memorial? Any water stations on before Little T?
Hey Al, I hear you. Was going to do it last week but chickened out from the heat.
Going up Little T should be no problem with 34-ring and 34-cog. The road from Little T to Camp 9 is in better shape than May Canyon, and not as steep.
Sorry to say the last water I know of is the 7-11 at Foothill and Little T. If I went with temps in the 80s I'd leave home with 3 bottles. In the 70s 2 bottles should be OK.
I'd recommend going through Hansen Dam bike path, at least on the way back to Glendale/Burbank. It'll shave a little distance off the route.
There is a outdoor water spigot at camp 9. Sorry if this was mentioned
