Pulled another all nighter couldn't sleep... It was a beautiful morning low temps at 7am but the humidity was a little high. I rode out to the meeting point for TnT Bike Club to meet one of my long time friends and hopefully a few others, which I did. It was a great reunion of friends I haven't seen in years! I got a late so I had to ride much faster than I had planned. I felt OK and was psyched up for the day! I got there much earlier than I thought I would have. A large group of Ladies and men riders were ready to roll. the ride broke into two groups the fast group and the faster group... The ride was a little tough on me as I am not used to Yo Yo pacing, I was al ittle worried about that but as we got out of town the pace settled down to a nice fast pace. The speed was much faster than I normally ride but felt comfortable. After 20 miles we came our first rest stop, the temps started to pick as well as the humidity. I finished two bottle which is very uncommon for me. The group sang Happy Birthday to Paul and wished all the guys happy Father.'s Day. I tried to turn off my Garmin without terminating the ride thought I did, no luck. after 1.5 miles I realized I was not recording the ride I had to re-start Garmin and the temps really started to climb. I am no longer a hot weather rider and I avoid it at all cost. I also made a major "no-no" make changes to your bike fit before a major ride, I moved the saddle back 3/8" and tilted the nose down by 1/2" it felt OK at first but the changes caused a different set of muscles to activate... once we started hitting some nice big hills my right leg hamies, inner thigh and calf all started to cramp. then it shifted to my left leg and both at the same time. I knew I was in trouble if this didn't go away. I started to struggle trying to spin as much as possible, I was drinking fluids big time hoping this would help. We get to out 2nd rest at 43 miles into the rid which I already had 17 miles on top. I filled up 2 of my water bottles all at the same time nursing the cramps. We were back on the ride with no over head cover and the sun beating down on us about 6 miles down we come to a light which we had to stop for. when we all started I had a tough time clipping and lost contact with group, trying to get back in contact I started to cramp big time.... I let the group go and decided that I was going to go to Rte 206 then turn around and head home. The heat took its toll on me the temps got up 96.7* then backed down to 93*, I was exhausted to I stopped for about 15 minutes with about 6.5 miles to go. I needed that short stop and it made easier form to finish up the ride. I got 83.3 miles. There was no way I was going to get the 17 miles I needed for the 100 miles so I decided to do another ride later as I was over heating and just want to get home and take a cold shower!
