Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.

Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.

What are the problems you're having with the RwGPS app?
I had a navigation fail yesterday on our ride and am wondering if it's a similar issue.
I'm still trying to get some idea. I'm testing all possible scenarios but cannot reproduce problem in purpose. App will drop GPS signal and reconnect once you open the phone next time. Today, when I took the first picture did that. Latter I tried making it fail after the photo but never did. They are not admitting but I think there is the bug in 2.6.1 version. When I'm only recording ride everything works fine, only on navigation.
On our ride yesterday, it had us stuck at a point about ten miles into the ride. A red bar at the top of the screen said weak GPS signal, or something to that effect, even though our Garmins both had a good GPS signal.
It stayed there for the rest of the ride and never showed any further progress. 🤔
I was using navigation yesterday.
I agree with you that it's something in a recent update, as it has always worked fine for me in the past.
Exactly, comes up with that red banner on the top weak GPS. You have to open the phone all the time to get it reconnect. I'm on the email discussion with Teck support. They are blaming my phone, as usual it's never their foult. Test4 ride I navigated with two different phones and they both failed at different times. Send them email and complain, they distroid beautiful app.
Are you using iPhone or Android
Android.
Me too
Did you take a picture when that problem occurred
No, it never occurred to me that it was the same issue you were dealing with.
I just submitted a support ticket. It will be interesting to see what they say.
Today it happened when I took first picture bit never repeated again. So strange. That was their first advice, that camera takes GPS and never released it again. My camera doesn't have access to the GPS.
Let's see
Mine may have froze up around the time I took my first picture, I wasn't really paying attention.
Whenever they give me lame excuses, I just ask them, "What have you changed? It's been working fine for years."
I got a prompt response from RwGPS support.
Dave thinks it was caused by the heat... 🙄
Here's his reply"
"I'm sorry to hear that your phone didn't record your full ride. I see that you are experiencing the same heat wave that we're experiencing. It looks like your Garmin recorded temps up to 108 towards the end of this ride. Most likely, your phone was getting a bit overheated and started to shut down certain functions, with GPS usually being the first to go. Your Garmin is designed to withstand a greater range of temperatures and weather, so that's why it continued to function while your phone stopped recording your location. "
My phone when overheats, shoots everything and you have to do forced reboot (press and hold power button for 10-15sec) to bring it back to life. Test it on next few short rides and see how it goes. Helene suggest that I cancel subscription if I'm not satisfied. I told her that I just want app to work. I don't care about money.
Yeah, seems like a lame excuse to me. I told him that at the point it messed up, the temperature was only about 80° F. Certainly not hot enough to cause my phone to overheat.
