I took a track today for fun during our zero day in Pinedale, which included errands and also some of the highlights of the Green River Rendezvous festival. We spent the morning eating hotel breakfast and doing some self- and bike-care. The guy at the bike shop proclaimed our bikes ‘the cleanest he’d seen on the divide’ so I think we did a pretty good job. Most of the time in town was spent walking (unencumbered, which was novel!) but we did move our bikes between hotels and we also rode out to the rodeo grounds to watch the festival pageant. The pageant was a reenactment of the fur-trading era of Wyoming history and it was uhhh a little one-sided, to say the least. Definitely a cultural experience, along with the Mountain Man Museum and beard-shaving auction. Despite some qualms about the pageant, Pinedale is a very welcoming trail town and has a ton of charm. We enjoyed chatting with locals and meeting other cyclists at the bike shop and brewery.
