Begin from Bridal Veil Falls parking area. Arrived at 830 am and only two vehicles were there. The route takes the old historic highway to Multnomah Falls, Oneonta Tunnel, Horsefail Falls and Ainsworth Park. Continue on the frontage road to Warrendale turn-off and start of the bike path. Ride the bike path to Cascade Locks. Continue through town, staying on old highway 30. Ride past Oxbow fish hatchery and Herman Creek trailhead to junction of Herman Creek Rd. Endure a steep, lengthy climb, most of which is at 9-12%, then a long downhill to Wyeth trailhead. Rode about 1/2 mile on the path to reach 25 miles. Return same way, except take Forest Lane Rd back into Cascade Locks. Headwind 5-10 mph, with gusts 15-20 mph in Cascade Locks. Finished around 1215 pm and the lot was overflowing. CAUTIONS: 1) Historic Highway from Bridal Veil to Ainsworth. Take extra caution at all waterfalls and trailheads. 2) Bike path section to Cascade Locks. Several rough areas, including tree root damage. Most of these tree root damage areas are shaded and difficult to see. 3) Cascade Locks - There is a designated bike path through town, but watch out for vehicles parking and pulling out.
