Left my mojo in bed and my Garmin in the drawer at home so couldn’t record the ride, not that I’ll be looking to re-live it anytime before I die. Chase was a bog-fest, finger tips dropped off in the first five minutes, Jumbo Jims must be the worst fatbike tyres ever produced, stoutly refusing to react to any steering input from me in favour of religiously following whatever rut (by that I mean shallow channel) they happened to be in. It was almost a relief when the front one sprang a leak! Until I re-inflated it with a CO2 and froze my glove to the canister causing my finger tips to drop off again. For most of the ride you could actually see the £ notes being jettisoned out the back of my bike as a result of the grinding paste that makes up the Chase. Other than that it was an absolute blast. Roll on Tuesday’s guaranteed warm and dry ride and slightly more predictable route!
