The X-trail is not a trail at all. There are X's carved on trees that you can more or less follow down the draw until you pick up the trail again. This is very steep going both down and up, with lots of deadfall, and it can be difficult finding a place with good footing to cross the gulley at the bottom. The X-s on the trees are the only way we know to follow this down, and some of the trees have already fallen, so it can be pretty darn challenging to find the X-s and navigate this trail (which is really more of a bushwack).
