Dee Man's Camino Real Training Ride. Started from Jay's about 25 minutes behind Jay, Chris, Doug and Judy, but caught them in about 25 minutes as they were repairing a flat tire. Joined the group at Santa Fe Dam and missed getting in the group picture as I rode across the park area inside the dam while many of the riders took a comfort stop or just jawed for a while; I caught them at the start of the river trail. I continued with the group, and mostly rode drag. On many of the hills, I either rode hard and circled back to the last rider, and I rode up "regular" and circled back past the last rider and then sprinted to catch up. I was pretty well cooked later in the ride, and the group split, basically in half, and I never saw the lead group again. Finally, I realized that, with the stops and the slower pace, I was not going to make it back until after dark, so I left the slower group not far before the final climb up the backside of Turnbull. From there, I went off route for a more direct way home, and used Google Maps to direct me (set for bicycle routing).
IMHO, heading north on Rosemead and using the I-10 underpass is very dangerous on bicycle, and to be avoided. If I had to do it again, with the benefit of having looked at the map, I'd have stayed on San Gabriel Blvd instead of entering the Rio Hondo Bike Trail, which becomes Hill and then Del Mar. Anything else would have been an improvement.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.

Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
