Another bit of my experimentation with all the things... my magnetic trainer came in. The cable has a lot of play in it, so I had to adjust that. It says it's quiet, and I guess compared to some, but it's pretty noisy.
The tire was slipping at 70 watts (WHAAA!?!?!). I realized I missed 2 screw holes in the clamp. Fixed that, cleaned the tire, and it did well until I got to 550 watts. I gave it another couple of turns, and re-cleaned the tire. It would be nice if the roller were knurled.
I learned that NONE of my phone apps are designed to handle riding on a trainer. My Garmin handled speed, hrm, and power just fine for an indoor ride. Actually, I did not test Ride With GPS, nor MapMyRide. I'll try that tomorrow. It's late.
I had to drop my seat half an inch, which I think is to be expected, but I don't like it. I have a spare bike I could use this on, and a spare power meter (yes, I know, shoosh). Unfortunately, I don't have the right crankset to use for the spare power meter.
Other random stuff, but in theory, this could be pretty cool.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
