10/23/21 Bikepacking Bridgeport, Del Rio, Hot Springs, Houston Valley loop

My phone battery saver kicked in at two sections, once on the long climb up to round mountain, and again the next day descending from the Meadow fire tower. Note that there are other route options, including singletrack, near Paint Rock.

Actual length of this loop is 80.2.

The FS road connection from mile 17.4 - 19 as drawn was in rough shape, rutted, high clay content, slippery. Knobbies and a mtb or full on adventure bike would have felt right for those two miles, but would have been slower everywhere else.

Car centric Hwy 25/70 was avoided except for a few brief stretches. Tail light mandatory for those brief sections.

Great two (or three, if you add some miles) day loop with the middle night in Hot Springs! I rate this 5 star. One of the best mixed surface rides I've done in WNC/East TN. Remote and wonderful.

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
