A broken chain, a flat, a broken derailleur, and a chain jump - and it was still fun. Hit the NETT with Mike, Vlad, Ricardo, and Kraig and it started out a bit chilly with a little drizzle. We warmed up soon enough but encountered some sizable mud puddles after mile 7 and that's were we had our two casualties. Kraig popped his chain and it ended up in the mud. After repairing it and rolling on we discovered Mike had not joined us. We assumed that his elderly bladder was the issue but soon discovered he had a flat tire. After replacing the tube we noticed his derailleur was detached from the frame. He apparently lost a bolt some time in the past but it held together with the skewer. So we tried to resecure it with the skewer but then discovered his chain had jumped the sprocket housing. Once we repaired that we decided it was best to head back to the lot. Although the ride was cut short, it was fun riding with these guys and enjoying a post ride burger at Charlie's. We hope to try it again soon.
