Leaving Cape Blanco in the morning, Cary & I took a short detour to see the ocean there. We soon surmised why it is that this place was named Cape Blanco. The consistent fog makes everything look white!
We rode out and by the time reached Hwy 101 the sun was shining nicely and we were feeling good! :)
We only needed to get to Gold Beach, a moderate mileage day, since Cary had a scheduled talk at the local elementary school. When we reached Gold Beach it was fairly early, around 2:30-3pm, so we took the opportunity to get some groceries and hit the post office in order to ship some unnecessary & weighty gear back home. I lost 14.25 lbs. that day! :)
At the suggestion of a couple of younger Subway employees, we stealth camped in a wooded area just next the local public library.
The next day Cary gave his talk at the school and then we hung out at the library for hours, enjoying the free WiFi, electricity, and comfortable furniture. Besides... it was raining outside.
