Beautiful day for a ride.
Last night I'd read on the ride event page that a couple guy were coming over from Mountain's Edge Park along Cactus. I chimed in and said I'd meet them at the corner of Cactus and LVB. I got there earlier than I expected so started to cruise up Cactus to meet them. Got all the way to Southern Highlands Pkwy/Decatur before I turned around to head back to LVB. I was too worried the two guys might change their route with some of the construction along Cactus. Thankfully that wasn't the case and we got hooked up without issue and had a nice cruise over to CraftHaus to meet up with everyone for the actual start of the ride.
Ride out to Bootleg Canyon was great. Knowing the UPRR I decided to push ahead, hit the trail crossing lights, and wave the group through. Worked out pretty good. Everyone seemed to appreciate it. That meant a little more work for me to ride back around everyone to beat them to the next intersection. Can't believe I logged a nearly 200 BPM heart rate. Highest my Garmin has ever recorded.
Ride back was a blast too with more of the same at the intersections. We made really good time and everyone was laughing and joking the entire ride. Made it back to CraftHaus without issue and of course some jokers decided to launch full out sprints to the finish. Guess they were really ready for the promised beers and tacos. I could have stayed, but I know I would have over eaten and then not wanted to ride home. So I said my goodbyes and headed home.
Ride home was uneventful. Nice ride up Gibson through the neighborhood and out to Paseo Verde. Took my chances on the sidewalk for the portion of Green Valley Pkwy that was under construction. Passed a couple pedestrians walking and they were super cool and understanding when I yelled, "Sorry I don't trust that traffic over there right now." Received a huge grin, nods, and "I completely understand" in return. After that things were pretty normal the rest of the way home.
